Our Editorial Commitment
Fundslender covers financial topics that can meaningfully affect people's money decisions. We take that responsibility seriously. Our editorial commitment is to produce content that is:
- Accurate: Factually correct and consistent with current UK regulation, lender practices, and consumer finance guidance
- Clear: Written in plain English, without unnecessary jargon, for a general UK adult audience
- Balanced: Presenting options and considerations fairly, including risks as well as benefits
- Honest: Not making claims we cannot substantiate - no "guaranteed approval", no fabricated testimonials, no misleading statistics
- Up to date: Reviewed and revised when regulations, products, or market conditions change
Who Produces Our Content
Content on Fundslender is produced by writers with knowledge of the UK consumer finance market. Where a guide covers technical regulatory, legal, or complex financial material, it is reviewed by an appropriately qualified individual before publication.
Author and reviewer details are published on individual pages where applicable. Attribution will be expanded as the editorial team grows.
How We Fact-Check
For purely factual claims - FCA requirements, typical interest rate ranges, statutory timescales, regulatory thresholds - we verify against primary sources before publication. Primary sources used include:
- The Financial Conduct Authority (fca.org.uk) - regulatory rules and guidance
- MoneyHelper (moneyhelper.org.uk) - government-backed money guidance
- The Money and Pensions Service (maps.org.uk)
- HM Revenue & Customs (hmrc.gov.uk) - tax and benefit-related claims
- Office for National Statistics (ons.gov.uk) - economic and consumer data
- The three major UK credit reference agencies (Experian, Equifax, TransUnion) - credit data and process guides
We do not use other commercial comparison sites as primary sources for factual claims.
How We Review and Update Content
Financial information can become outdated as regulations change, interest rates shift, and products evolve. Our review process:
- Pages are reviewed on a regular schedule - at minimum annually, and more frequently for content covering areas where rules change regularly
- When significant regulatory changes occur (e.g. FCA policy updates), affected pages are prioritised for immediate review
- Each page carries a "last reviewed" date so readers can see when content was last verified
- If we identify an error after publication, we correct it promptly and, where the error was material, note what was changed
Commercial Relationships and Editorial Independence
Fundslender operates a commercial model - we may receive fees when users click through to lender partners. This is how we fund free content for consumers. However, commercial relationships do not govern editorial decisions. Specifically:
- Lenders and product providers do not pay for editorial coverage or editorial placement
- A partner paying a higher referral commission does not receive more prominent placement as a result
- Content is structured to serve the reader's informational needs first
- We include external links to non-commercial help resources (MoneyHelper, StepChange, Citizens Advice) even though these generate no commercial return
- If a product or lender has material limitations or risks that are relevant to a reader's decision, we include them - even if that discourages clicks
Where content includes referral links to commercial partners, we aim to make this clear. Disclosure notices appear on all pages with commercial referral links.
What We Do Not Do
- Publish sponsored or paid-for content disguised as neutral editorial
- Use fake testimonials, invented case studies, or fabricated user reviews
- Make claims about guaranteed approval, guaranteed rates, or outcomes
- Suppress negative information about a partner product to protect a commercial relationship
- Reproduce other websites' content without significant original contribution
